چکیده

from the right atrium (Figure 1B: MV, mitral valve; TV, tricuspid valve), from the right ventricle (Figure 1C), and lastly, a lateral view after offline subtraction of the anterolateral wall of the right ventricle (Figure 1D). The surgical analysis confirmed the 3D echocardiographic findings and additionally disclosed severe involvement of the subvalvular apparatus and endocardial deposit of pearly fibrous plaques, a characteristic of carcinoid heart disease (figure 2A and 2B: AL, anterior leaflet; PL: posterior leaflet; SL: septal leaflet). The patient underwent multivalvular surgery, with mitral repair, tricuspid valve and pulmonary valve replacement, and reconstruction of the right ventricular outflow tract. Funding: project funded by the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Heart Carcinoid Disease with Patent Foramen Ovale Treated by Mini Sternotomy

This case report was an attempt to present the importance of diagnostic echocardiography and closure of a patent foramen ovale in carcinoid heart disease. Herein, we present a case of a 48-year-old woman with a carcinoid metastasis presenting with tricuspid regurgitation, pulmonic stenosis, patent foramen ovale, and borderline left ventricular ejection fraction on an echocardiogram. Surgical in...

Further examination and biochemical testing of the patient confirmed ...

Cross sectional echocardiographic feature in carcinoid heart disease. A mechanism for tricuspid regurgitation in this syndrome.

In a patient with severe tricuspid regurgitation and mild pulmonary stenosis due to carcinoid heart disease cross sectional echocardiography showed nodular thickening and coaptation of the tricuspid leaflets at the beginning of systole. The leaflets were, however, seen to be increasingly pulled apart as right ventricular systole proceeded. This finding, which is probably due to traction on the ...

Bioprosthetic pulmonary and tricuspid valve replacement in carcinoid heart disease from ovarian primary cancer.

Carcinoid tumors usually originate in the gastrointestinal tract, but in rare instances they may arise in other organs. A patient with severe tricuspid and pulmonary regurgitation because of carcinoid syndrome successfully underwent double valve replacement using bioprostheses. The patient was finally diagnosed with carcinoid heart disease from an isolated ovarian carcinoid cancer. The diagnosi...
